The temple was built
in the reign of King Lithai in the 14th century A.D. The gold-plated stupa
of the Chiang Saen style is 33 metres high standing on a square base measuring
10 metres wide on each side, with 12 redented corners. It was built to
house the Lord Buddha’s hair relics. The name “Cho Hae”
derived from a high quality fabric from Xishuanbanna that was used to
wrap the stupa. |
