The abbot was the prime mover in the ecclesiastical community as well as education and health requirements of the lay society. Recipient of a doctorate in Buddhism (honoris causa) in the field if Education, from the Council of Chulalongkorn Buddhist University in 1983.

The abbot of Wat Yai Chaimangkol, Ayutthaya

Born in 1902 in Ayutthaya. Ordained as a Buddhist monk at the age of twenty-one. The prime mover in renovating Wat Yai Chaimongkol, which was deserted until official permission was given to become an official temple where monks can reside. The abbot’s personal creed is “When one is alone, be mindful of one’s own thought; when one is among friends, be mindful of one’s words”.

He is the prime mentor of many foreigners to fully understand Buddhist teachings, resulting in many Westerners entering Buddhist monkhood. He is the founder of Wat Pah Nanachat (International Forest Monastery). His principal Buddhist creed is “One must attain a proper belief and moral conduct first before preaching others”.
